Save Ellie: Urgent Surgery Needed for Kitten

Hi, my name is RoseAnn. Thank you for taking a moment to read a beautiful story about a little kitten named Eloise who desperately needs our help.

Eloise (Ellie) - a vibrant, happy and playful 9-week-old kitten - was rescued from an overpopulated cat colony, by my dear friend and two children. Ellie as well as many other kittens were born into unsanitary conditions. When the family. found Ellie she was covered in fleas – – her eyes were in bad shape due to an underlying upper respiratory infection. Ellie has made remarkable progress in only a few short weeks and was thriving, loving life in her new home. Ellie adjusted nicely and one over everyone’s heart very quickly. Imagine my friends surprise when she learned Ellie was gravely ill — costly but life-saving surgery was the only option to correct a congenital birth defect - there aren’t any alternative treatments - and only a few vets nationwide are experienced in treating Ellie condition- Rectovaginal Fistula and Atresia Ani is a co-occurring congenial defect. Ellie was born without a butthole, forcing all waste to exit her vaginal area- however, as time progresses,- deterioration happens very quickly, bowel obstruction, conditions like magacolon can arise, infections like UTI’s and sepsis will eventually lead to death – – making this an urgent matter of the heart.

Ellie is clueless to her life threatening health condition - this is evident in her demeanor as she playfully, explores her new home with curiosity and wonder. Ellie is feisty and adorable. She is lovable and affectionate with soulful eyes that stole my heart with one glance. It’s hard not to love Ellie – – just ask Petey, the family’s Pitbull mix — he is obviously in love and quite smitten with his new little sister. Ellie uses it to her advantage like any smart little sister would.

Life usually happens when we least expect it – – at this juncture, the family cannot afford the cost of surgery due to unexpected changes in circumstances which they are navigating. We have all found ourselves in a similar spot. With this in mind, I am turning to the community for support to make the impossible a reality for good people who need some sunshine right now. I implore everyone to do the same and show this family, an outpouring of love and support — providing the means to save Ellie‘s life.

Know who you are supporting – – My friend Rita has always gone above and beyond to lift up anyone in need, quietly, with immense generosity and kindness. My friend is extremely hard-working, and probably the most generous person I have ever met. The willingness to give of herself - time or resources - overshadows her own busy schedule. This extends to all those who know her personally – – however, there are no limits to the charitable responsibility to others in need which my friend possesses — it set her apart from most. She is truly one of a kind. Her children are smart and beautiful with wisdom and strength that far surpasses their years. They face each day with a humorous approach and funnier than most comedians!

I’m blessed to have this family in my life and I am committed to helping this family meet the financial goal to give Ellie a chance because without medical intervention, the prognosis is grim. We all have our stories. We have all had our struggles, but think of the time when a friend or stranger extended a hand to help you up at the time you were most in need. The kindness and generosity, of a seemingly small gesture , timed perfectly has the power to change someone’s life with hope. Please help make a difference not only for Ellie, but also for my friend - a hard-working single mom and her children.
