Help Save El Cajas National Park: 7,000 acres burning.
El Cajas National Park, one of Ecuador's most precious natural treasures, is currently burning. Prolonged droughts caused by climate change have made the southern region of Ecuador vulnerable to devastating fires, threatening not just our environment but also our main source of clean water.
El Cajas is more than just a national park—it’s the lifeblood of Cuenca, my hometown. It provides vital water resources to the city, serves as a sanctuary for incredible bird species, and is a beloved destination for hiking, relaxation, and connecting with nature. This park is not only an ecological wonder but also a key driver of tourism and local pride.
Right now, my friends and members of the community are doing everything they can to combat the fire, but we urgently need more support. Tools, protective gear, and other essential supplies are critical to fighting the flames and protecting this irreplaceable ecosystem.
With your help, we can provide the resources needed to control the fire and later begin the vital work of reforesting this incredible area. Every donation will go directly to trusted local organizations (such as Fundacion Amaru) and individuals dedicated to preserving the environment (biologists and teams that want to help with this).
Please join us in saving El Cajas National Park. Your contribution, no matter the size, can make a huge difference. Let’s protect this natural wonder for generations to come.
