HELP FUND A PEN FOR CATS IN NEED
Before COVID-19 Bradford’s cat rescue centres were already stretched to the limit. COVID only made it worse.
Rescues are seeing the amount of stray and unwanted cats double since lockdown restrictions were lifted. As job loses effect millions it’s forced many to give up their pets due to financial difficulties.
Pawprints Cat Rescue in Bradford is at maximum capacity. In the last 4 days alone they’ve rescued a heavily pregnant cat from the streets, two 12 week old, scared kittens living as strays, a 4 month old kitten (with another 3 of its friends to follow), and had 2 cats dumped on them. That’s on top of over 30 cats already in their care.
It’s far too much to cope with. Pawprints have 10 cat pens, 6 temporary holding spaces and 2 foster carers; but it’s still not enough. There are still 35 cats on the waiting list and Pawprints get multiple calls a day about stray cats and from owners wanting them to take their cat.
Our goal is to add an additional foster pen so Pawprints can save another 12 cats per year from a life on the streets.
Unfortunately cat pens are very expensive. The pen needs to be in line with animal welfare standards and needs to be heated because the cats using it will be from the streets, and will need warmth after all those cold night by themselves. Having a heater will make them warm and cosy. The pen will be fully insulated with wipe clean surfaces, enabling it to be fully cleaned and prevent cross infection. There will be an outside run for the cats to get plenty of exercise while they await their forever home.
We need to raise £922. The rescues vet bills are already around the £5,000 mark! So the cats are relying on the public to help raise the funds.
By donating today you will be providing love, comfort and warmth to a cat like Effie pictured above.
They desperately need your help. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.
Together we can do this.
