Hello. My son adopted Eddie when he was only 5 weeks old. Eddie is the sweetest cat you will ever meet. After he was neutered, he experienced a urinary blockage at about 1 year old, ending in a perineal urethrostomy surgery. Urinary blockages are very serious in cats, and they can lead to your cat passing if you don't catch it immediately and get them help. Eddie just turned 2. Yesterday, Eddie was experiencing obvious discomfort, and he had begun vomiting and crying. My son immediately brought him to an emergency vet. The vet said he had never seen anything like it. Eddie's urethra was so swollen, as was his bladder. He had scar tissue that caused another blockage. The doctor wasn't sure if he would be able to pass a catheter because of how swollen it was. Nonetheless, he was successful. Eddie is resting comfortably now in the ICU. They gave him pain meds to keep him comfortable while they run tests to make sure he isn't having heart failure and all of his levels are good for a re-corrective surgery to fix his urethra. Without this surgery, Eddie will not survive. He is only 2. He is my son's therapy animal and the love of his life. I have never done anything like this before, but I really need help. The doctor is quoting 7k for this surgery he will perform tomorrow, April 27th. 7K is a lot of money that I just do not have. I can show proof of the veterinary bill in case anyone would like to see that. If anyone is able to help Eddie, please. If you are unable to, I completely understand and ask if you can pray for him. Pray that his surgery goes well and he survives to live a full and healthy life. Thank you so much!!
