Everyone, meet Eddie.
Eddie was reported to us from a remote village. Someone sent us a video of a skinny dog with patches of missing fur.
We felt compelled to step in and help—without realizing just how desperate his situation really was. That first video we seen didn’t even show the half of it.
We sent trusted volunteers from a nearby city to find and secure him, and once they did, the true extent of his suffering became clear. Villagers had been throwing stones at him and chasing him away, afraid they might catch what he had. They only wanted him to move far from their homes.
At the clinic, we learned Eddie is:
• Positive for leishmaniasis
• Suffering with eye problems (fungal infection suspected)
• Living with a broken back leg
• Covered in scabies
Can a dog endure more than this? And yet—Eddie is still lively, affectionate, and incredibly sweet. He loves to eat, wags his tail, and shows us that he wants to live. He has not given up And neither will we.
But right now, he needs ongoing treatment in the clinic, extra testing for his eyes, and intensive care. This will be expensive, and with so many other animals already in our care, we truly need help.
If you can contribute toward Eddie’s bills, no matter how small, we would be beyond grateful.
Please follow Friends of Shoku for updates on Eddie and many others like him. Thank you for being part of his fight for life.
