Save Dundee City Pipe Band & Youth Initiative

Dundee City Pipe Band & Youth Music Initiative (SCIO) is an inclusive, traditional Highland Pipe Band established in 2016. Our charity number is SCO47993.

We offer a positive experience of music tuition & group music making to members of all ages and abilities including those with additional support needs or long term health conditions. We promote traditional Scottish arts, heritage and culture, and provide recreational activities which improve our members’ quality of life.

As far as we are aware, Dundee City Pipe Band is the world’s first all inclusive pipe band. Something for our local community to be very proud of!

Last March we won the Eilidh McLeod Endeavour Award. Eilidh was the piper from Barra who died in the Manchester Arena bomb blast. We were nominated by the parent of a band member who wrote, “My daughter may never be able to live on her own, but she has a passion for drumming. I'm so grateful for the chance they have given her to play in a pipe band. It has changed her life and mine."

Unfortunately, Covid 19 means we cannot make money by playing gigs, and we are now in desperate need of assistance to keep this valuable resource running to support our members. We are asking the community to help fund us through this difficult period to maintain this “World First” and keep Dundee and Scotland on the map.
