Hello, my name is Ileana LaFramboise. Our family dog, Dresden, is a handsome chocolate Newfoundland that loves to swim, run, and play with me and my siblings. Dresden has bad allergies, so we recently removed most of the carpeting in our home and installed laminate flooring ourselves. Unfortunately, about a week and a half ago, Dresden slipped going up the newly uncarpeted stairs and has been limping ever since. At first we figured we'd just let him rest and heal and everything would be fine. But after over a week of no progress we took him to the vet where we learned that Dresden has a fully torn ACL in his right back knee! The vet said that if he doesn't get surgery soon his other knee will also go out from having to do all the work, and then he won't be able to walk at all. The vet said his only option is to have TPLO surgery to reattach the tendon. We were shocked and disheartened to learn this surgery costs $5,000. I would love to help out my family and raise money for his surgery. We sadly lost our 2 other husky dogs Sheba and Togo this year (one to kidney issues at age 14 and one escaped and was tragically hit by a car), so Dresden is all we have left. It has been a very tough year for our family, we love our pets so much! Dresden is the most loving, playful, and friendly dog and has brought so much joy to our family. We were all devastated to hear the news, we take him everywhere because Dresden LOVES car rides and he is my mom's co-pilot. My 3 younger siblings are always so caring and playful with him, it has hit them hardest of all. They have begged my parents to forgo Christmas gifts this year so we can keep Dresden, but the surgery is still just so expensive it won't be nearly enough.
