Hi everyone,
We are reaching out during one of the most difficult and emotional times we’ve ever faced. Just one month ago, we welcomed our sweet 1-year-old cat, Draco, into our home. He quickly became our baby—full of love, personality, and so much life.
This past weekend, everything changed. While we were out, something terrible happened. When we came home, Draco was hiding under the bed, hissing and clearly in pain. We rushed him to the emergency vet on Friday, where we were told nothing was broken just by a physical exam. But by the time we got home, he had gotten much worse—he began dragging his back legs and could no longer walk.
We rushed him back to the ER Saturday morning, only to be told devastating news: both of his legs were fractured, and we were faced with an impossible decision—pay $20,000 for surgery or put him down.
We refused to give up on him.
We sought a second opinion and contacted North Shore Animal League, who gave us hope. They told us to bring him in Sunday morning and confirmed they could perform the surgery for $9,000, including medication and hospitalization. This gave us a chance to save our baby’s life.
So far, we have managed to come up with $3,000 on our own, but with rent, bills, and everyday expenses, we simply cannot cover the remaining cost on our own.
At this point, the doctors have told us they will do everything they can to save both of Draco’s legs, but there is a possibility that if the damage is too severe, they may have to amputate one. We are holding onto hope with everything we have that they will be able to save both and give him the best quality of life possible.
Draco is only one year old. He has so much life left to live, and he deserves the chance to run, play, and be pain-free again. We are asking for any help—no matter how small—to give him that chance.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and prayers during this time. ❤️
