Save Dolce: Help Fabio Get Back to Cruising
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Fabio, and I’m a full-time cruiser living aboard my beloved Westsail 28, Dolce. In the early hours of this past week, a forty-foot catamaran slammed into Dolce while she was peacefully at anchor—then sped off after only giving me a name and phone number. The force of the collision caused severe structural damage: the main bulkhead tore away from the hull, the compression post cracked and shifted deep into the keel, and the support block also fractured. Even my brand-new rigging has been stretched beyond use.
For eight years, I searched for a boat like Dolce. She’s a rare Westsail 28—hull #55 out of only 78 ever built—capable of sailing to the far corners of the world. In just one year of ownership, I poured countless hours of work and resources into getting her into top-notch shape for my dream of cruising full-time. Now, that dream is on hold as I face the heartbreaking reality of a damaged vessel that I can only motor to a boatyard on calm days.
I’m reaching out for help with immediate costs: fuel, hauling Dolce out for inspection, and starting essential repairs to make her seaworthy again. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring me one step closer to restoring Dolce to the boat I’ve loved and cared for so deeply.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Whether you can donate or help by sharing my campaign, I am truly grateful. Your kindness and support mean the world to me, and to Dolce, too. Together, we can get her back where she belongs—out on the open ocean.
