Save Dodge the Dog

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Abby. I'm a Houston Police Officer and on 04/19/2023 my partner and I received a call about a German Shepherd on the freeway.
We found a young dog terrified and huddled against the barrier on the shoulder of the freeway. While trying to approach the dog, a kind man stopped to help us rescue the dog. The man told us that he saw the dog, but couldn't stop in time so he got off the freeway and looped around with the hope the dog would still be there. It takes a village and with the help of the stranger and another officer, we were able to lift the dog up and put him in the back of a police car.

Thankfully, we were able to get the pup off of the freeway in one piece and to a nearby emergency vet. After his exam, we were informed he had unfortunately sustained a broken hip, likely from either falling from a car or being hit by a car. The vet told us that surgery and medical costs to get him healthy will be about $2,500.

My partner wants to keep the dog, but the unexpected medical costs to repair the poor dog's hip are something he was not prepared for.

We've already named him Dodge since he clearly needs help dodging cars. The vet says he's about 7-8 months old and an absolute trooper. Even though he was clearly in pain, he never once showed any aggression while going through his medical exam.

Please help us raise money to get Dodge out of dodge!
