Thank you from the bottom of my heart that everyone who has donated. Doc saw the cardiologist yesterday, and he wasn’t strong enough for surgery. They are trying a new blood pressure medication and rest. Dr. Allen at the west LA VCA said he hopes that in the next couple of weeks, he will stabilize and be a better candidate for surgery. I will keep you posted on Doc’s progress. He is resting in his little bed. And Bonnie is by his side keeping him calm and cool. We love you. Doc loves you!

Help Save Doc’s Big Heart

Hello, I’m Kat, and I’m launching this GoFundMe to save my daughter Bonnie’s beloved Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Doc Holiday.

The irony isn’t lost on us: Doc is fighting for his life because his heart is literally too big.

What happened

On Sunday, nine-year-old Doc went into acute heart failure from advanced mitral-valve disease. Apart from this faulty valve, he is in excellent health—playful, gentle, and unfailingly sweet.

Why we’re racing the clock

Emergency LAD procedure – West LA VCA

• Cost: $8,500 (we’re still $7,500 short)

• Date: Wednesday, July 9

This surgery will drain the fluid crushing Doc’s lungs and buy us critical time.

Definitive mitral-valve repair – University of Florida

• Cost: $49,000

If we can stabilize him, their cardiac team believes Doc can enjoy years more fetches, cuddles, and love.
