Save Dexter’s Eye: Surgery for a Loving Rescue Cat

Help save Dexter's eye!

My sweet cat, Dexter, came to me two years ago during my last semester of grad school. He was a rescue cat from Texas and very little was known about his early life and medical history. When I adopted him and took him home, he hid under the bathroom sink for almost two weeks because he was so scared and traumatized from his journey to New England. Over time I slowly won him over, and in turn he completely stole my heart. He is my soul cat, and I do not know where I would be without him by my side, sleeping in my bed, following me around the house, and providing me with unconditional and endless love the way only animals are capable of.

In recent months, Dexter has developed a large ulcer and a corneal sequestrum that needs to be surgically removed and then grafted in order to keep his eye and most of his vision. The procedure has a high success rate and his prognosis would be good following surgery. Dexter’s medical team and I have tried to manage his veterinary care with conservative measures, but his condition is only worsening. These growths are very painful, and it breaks my heart every day to see him struggle with their effects. Since I have exhausted all of my resources, I am seeking to fundraise $3,500 so that Dexter, who is only four years old, can keep most of his vision and live a high quality of life. Any amount helps and is endlessly appreciated!
