Cashapp at $aBetterChicago
The GoFundMe is for the design, research, and development of permanent iteration (the GoFundMe only covers some of the preliminary stage of the permanence) The design and development involve research, consultation, 3D modeling, miniatures, tests, samples and community engagement. This is not the fabrication phase, but this phase will lead to being able to begin work on a permanent piece.

About the piece.
DEMAND JUSTICE is an independent public art piece with a message reflecting the universal cry against injustice. The art piece benefits our society by reminding us that we must constantly stand up for those that cannot and never become complacent with oppression.
The DEMAND JUSTICE art piece is a beacon of hope for many.
Message
Malcolm X and Martin Luther King are often seen as opposing forces against oppression and the civil rights struggle. While Martin Luther King adopted Gandhi's nonviolent approach, Malcolm X believed in fighting back 'by-any-means-necessary.' Some say the sword and the shield.
In reality, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King are the necessary sides of the same coin. Each side of the art piece represents the two different methods that they adopted for achieving equality and liberation. Each portrait is half of their face with different words on them. Malcolm X's portrait displays the word 'Demand' while Martin Luther King displays the word 'Justice.' Both together, form a full face and complete the iconic message of 'Demand Justice' – a timeless chant for those who continue fighting against oppression. Furthermore, the gap between them symbolizes the middle ground when joined together – a compromise between the two polarized methods.
