Save Del Campo Dance Studio

Mike started out as a Martial Arts teacher but switched to teaching Latin and Ballroom dancing back in 1989. After meeting his wife-to-be, Gina, they opened Del Campo Dance Studio in 1995. Mike began to specialize in Salsa and Latin dancing and soon had a vision to expand Salsa dancing in the Sacramento area. He started teaching and promoting Salsa venues, and soon the Sacramento Salsa scene exploded! Del Campo Dance Studio is the founding studio of the Sacramento Salsa scene. Almost every teacher in the Sacramento area can trace their roots back to DDS. Many Sacramento dancers started their Salsa dancing at one of Mike's many venues, which included Harlows and The Station in Roseville to name only a few.
Mike and Gina got married in 1999 and together they made a perfect team. Mike handles the dance curriculum and trains the teachers. Gina, an accountant by trade, handled the books and assisted with teaching. As of the last 2 years, many of you have not seen Gina out. Gina has been diagnosed with an affliction called progressive Aphasia. This affects Gina's cognitive and speech ability. Medical doctors say that there's no cure. Gina is currently under the care of alternative medicine doctors who monitor her through blood tests, diet, supplements, and exercise. This affliction has caused Gina to retire early leaving Mike as the sole breadwinner. Small business owners have to pay for their own healthcare and Gina's medical bills have depleted much of their savings. They have also recently faced a rent increase after having to move their studio to a new location. Mike was making ends meet by teaching and hosting dance events 7 days a week and they were doing okay until COVID-19 hit. Due to the Stay-at-Home order, Mike and Gina have almost zero income coming in.
