Save David's Arm: Urgent Help Required

Donation protected
Family and Friends,

David was working under the car a year and a half ago in a rush and he mistakenly didn’t let the car cool down fully before working on it. He had the car up on a jack and jack stands. Changing out the oxygen sensors underneath our car, he pulled a bit too hard on his wrench causing the car to slip off the jack and fall just enough to pin both of his arms against his chest, burning both backsides of his forearms excruciatingly deep as he scraped himself from under the car in order to not be crushed and more seriously injured. For reasons I cannot share, he doesn’t have health insurance at this time, and has been denied free government healthcare as well. Even getting out of bed or doing minimal tasks causes a severe strain on his arm.

David has been battling two serious arm injuries for over a year now. Luckily, he has been able to fully heal the arm that had a more shallow wound, but the arm with the deeper wound remains deeply injured. Just from the beginning, he’s had a serious risk of sepsis and even the possibility of losing his arm. Having a job in construction just emphasizes the possibility of what could happen. It’s been a long and frightening journey, and though we’ve held off as long as we could, we’re finally humbling ourselves to ask for help with funds to take enough time off from work so he can heal properly.

We recently took as much unpaid time off from our physically demanding jobs as we could possibly manage, hoping it would give David’s arm a real chance to heal. Unfortunately, it still hasn’t been enough. We work for a small, family-run business that can’t offer PTO or extended sick leave. We’ve pushed through as best we can, but we’re reaching a breaking point.

The truth is, it’s a miracle David hasn’t lost his arm yet. He’s finally under the care of a medical team that’s helping monitor the wound closely, and we’re deeply thankful for that. But even something as simple as sweating too much could lead to infection. His nurse has now advised that his arm stay bandaged up in a sling until it’s fully healed—which means he simply can’t do the work his job requires. And even with me doing everything I can to help, it’s not enough.

Our livelihood depends on David being able to keep both of his arms. Without that, our jobs—and our future—are at serious risk. We’re asking for any support, big or small, to help us stay afloat just a little longer so David can finally take enough time off from work to fully heal the way he truly deserves to.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for anything you’re able to give. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so grateful.
