Hi, my name is Renin, and I need your help to save a dog who has already suffered far too much.

A few months ago, I lost my companion Sparrow after 18 beautiful years together. The grief has been overwhelming. Anyone who has shared their life with an animal knows how deep this pain goes. In the middle of this heartbreak, I came across a shelter listing — and saw Darwin. His eyes had the same softness, the same fragility Sparrow once had. I felt an immediate connection. I truly believe Darwin and I can heal each other.

At the same time, the situation in Turkey has become even more dire due to the legislation known as the “death law.” Conditions in state shelters have drastically worsened. I won’t share graphic images here, but with a simple online search, you can see the scale of the crisis and the international campaigns surrounding it. Knowing this, I simply could not turn away when I saw Darwin.

Darwin’s Story

Darwin is around two years old. He was taken from the streets and sent to one of Turkey’s worst state shelters. For two weeks, he received almost no food and no care. When we got him out, he weighed only 7 kg instead of 17 kg. He cried constantly from hunger, fear, and loneliness.

We immediately admitted him to a veterinary clinic. His body was covered in wounds from sleeping on stones. He began treatment for canine mange and otodectic mange , and thankfully, his bloodwork was clean.

But then we learned the worst part:

Darwin has severe damage to BOTH hips.

One hip is broken and separated from the joint.

The other hip is fully dislocated.

He was likely kicked or hit by a car.

Without surgery, he will live in constant, extreme pain.

Right now he feels slightly less pain only because he is dangerously underweight — but as soon as he gains weight, the pain will become unbearable.

Darwin must remain at the clinic for at least two more weeks, and the surgery and treatment costs are far beyond what I can afford alone.

Why I’m Asking for Help

I wish I could cover all the costs myself, but I simply can’t —

and I refuse to abandon Darwin to the fate he narrowly escaped.

He deserves the chance to live safely, without fear or pain, and I want to bring him home to Berlin where he will finally be loved and protected.

How Funds Will Be Used

All donations will go toward:

• Hip surgery (both sides)

• Ongoing veterinary care

• Clinic stay

• Medications and recovery treatments

• Transport to Berlin

After everything he has endured, he still approaches humans with love.
