2022 is here...
And yet we're still living our life in fear...
Covid has taken over and we have been beat...
There's no more freedom to walk down the street..
You wake up with a cough so small...
And wonder if the night out was worth it at all...
No more taking things for granted you see...
Because tomorrow it may be you or it may be me...
Today it is my little sister fighting for her life...
She's too young to die, she has yet to become a wife...
She has a Braelyn so precious and pure...
And a Skylar that's sassy but loved for sure...
The doctors say there is no more they can do...
But I choose to Believe that, that is not true...
There has to be a doctor that is willing to try...
My sister is too young, she doesn't deserve to die...
She lays there day after day and night after night...
Telling these doctors she's willing to fight...
And the doctors say no, there's nothing they can do...
But I don't believe that to be true...
My sister deserves you to try everything there is to try...
Because her only other option is to lay there and die...
So I'm pleading and begging for someone to rescue Danielle...
And those not on board can go to hell...
We are well aware that a lung transplant is a risky step to take...
But imagine the outcome if you do not make a mistake...
I'm thankful for the 35 years that we have already had...
But she deserves another 35, so saying no is a choice that's bad...
She's loved by so many and she needs to be here...
Living without my little sister is my biggest fear...
So if you're a doctor that can help, please reach out now...
Because OSU is throwing in the towel.
Hi, My name is Tracy Williams. I am the sister of "Danielle Hertel."
My sister received a positive covid diagnosis on November 17th from the urgent care in Upper Sandusky Ohio. On Friday, November 19th, she went to Blanchard Valley Hospital ER and was sent home with a Steroid. She continued to feel worse throughout the night and returned to Blanchard Valley Hospital ER again on Saturday, November 20th and again was sent home this time with oxygen. As the night went on her breathing became more difficult and she returned to the ER on Sunday November 21st. She was admitted into the hospital that day. For the next 14 days, she continued to get more and more sick and her breathing continued to get worse. On December 3rd 2021 she was put on the ventilator and was supposed to be transferred to Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus Ohio. However the foggy weather delayed her transport until the 4th of December. When she arrived in Columbus she was placed on an ECMO machine which is a form of life support to help the lungs and other vital organs while her body heals from the covid pneumonia. Here we are, Sunday January 9th, 2022 and my sister is still laying in the hospital on ECMO and a Ventilator. Through the course of her hospital visit, she has had several issues, including a stroke that caused a brain bleed, and a fungal infection in her blood and both of her lungs collapsed. The family was informed on Christmas Eve, that she was unresponsive and that she was no longer a candidate for a lung transplant which she desperately needs due to damage to her lungs. She laid there unresponsive for 4 days prior to Christmas Eve and then on Christmas she began to follow commands again. At that time, I thought for sure that was our Christmas Miracle. However, the lung transplant team has informed us that they still will not give her lungs. Because it is too risky, although our only other option is to let her lay there and die. My sister is 100% responsive at this time and is begging for her life. She answers all question with a shake of her head and has gotten stronger and stronger. Her brain bleed has proven to be cleared and her infection in her blood was negative the last time it was tested. Recently, we were informed that smoking was also a factor for a lung transplant to be denied. My sister quit smoking 7 or 8 months ago and was a very mild smoker to begin with and is still being denied the chance of survival. Now we have to move on and try to find her another doctor willing and wanting to save her life. My sister is 35 years old and is a mother to a 5 and a 10 year old. She is loved by so many and she needs our help to save her life . Please help by donating, so we can proceed with other doctors, lawyers and whatever else it will take to move forward to save Danielle.
