Save Daisy: A Hero Dog in Need

This is Daisy, and she's my six-year-old seizure alert dog. She lets me know that I'm about to have a seizure. She will gently guide me to my bed before I have a bad seizure, so I am not hurt. If I happen to not listen to her and have a seizure in a place that is less friendly, she will let others in my house know what is happening. On top of all that, she will keep me from hitting my head on anything dangerous.

My daughter has POTS and she has taken it upon herself to keep my daughter safe when she faints as well. Daisy is truly one of a kind.

Daisy has had chronic urinary and bladder infections ever since we've had her. (Since she was about a year old.) In the evening of 8/26 Daisy had trouble urinating. She started whimpering and her belly was quite hard. She vomited and we took her to the emergency vet. Her bladder was very full, and she could not pass urine at all.

The vet drained over a half a liter of urine from her bladder. They took an ultrasound and an x-ray. They tried to get a catheter in, and it was just not possible. We are seeing a specialist vet to find out if this is cancer, a problem from chronic UTIs, or a bladder stone or other obstruction causing the catheter to not be able to be put in.

If it is a bladder stone or the chronic UTIs, it is something that is fixable. If it is the UTIs, there could be scarring, and they can put a stent in to help her pee. If it is a bladder stone, surgery could help. Cancer there is not much they can do. And hopefully it isn't it. I would have to euthanize her. **SEE EDIT BELOW**

I'm on Social Security Disability. I cannot even afford the diagnosis. She has literally saved my life. She is not just a pet. She's an amazing dog that needs all of the help that can be given.

EDIT: Before we went to the specialist, she started urinating again on her own, which is good. We have seen the specialist. Unfortunately, it is most likely cancer. We are taking the most cost effective and humane approach at this time. She is going on palliative care, which is a long-term treatment of NSAIDS. This will hopefully keep inflammation down and prevent blockages like what happened. We also are giving her a round of antibiotics, just in case, and keeping her on her bladder control supplements.

This is not what we wanted. But there were no signs of any bladder stones. And there didn't appear to be any scar tissue or any abnormalities. There did appear to be thickening indicating urethral cancer. The diagnostics to confirm what the specialist vet thinks is 99% likely are too expensive. And if it's the 1% the treatment would be NSAIDS.

Right now, she's eating enthusiastically, she's jumping, she's playing, and she's running around like absolutely nothing happened last night. If and when her quality of life seems to be suffering we will re-evaluate. But I will not be putting her through invasive, expensive exams to confirm what is likely. The current gofundme is to cover the price of the emergency vet and the procedures she underwent there, the specialist vet, and the ongoing price of medication and bloodwork.

Thank you all.
