Save Middle School Basketball!

Cumberland Valley School District plans to reduce the number of Middle School Basketball Team by half this year. This means 40 hardworking student athletes will no longer get opportunities to be part of a team. Students show school sports help teens stay healthy, build confidence, develop teamwork and leadership skills, reduce stress, foster belonging, and lower risks of suicide, anxiety, and substance use.

Most area schools have a middle school basketball team for every 100-150 students. Without this effort, CV will be reduced to one team for every 650 students.

This is a critical time as CV is facing funding challenges, receiving less money per student in revenue than almost every other district in the state of PA. We believe reform is on the way, and your contribution will help bridge our funding gap until next year when we can continue to support and enhance all types of extracurricular activities and programming.

The Cumberland Valley Youth Basketball Association, a 501c3 non-profit, needs to raise $20,000 in funds from the community to bring back all our middle school teams. Any additional funds raised will go support free CVYBA registration for students on the free and reduced lunch program and recreational basketball activities.
