Save Curly Joe: Aid for Medical Bills

Hi. My name is Stephanie, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my dog, Curly Joe.

I rescued Curly Joe 5 and a half years ago from a police shelter in southwest Utah. He was on a euthanization list when I found him. He was completely matted, filthy, and had been living on the streets for months. I gave Joe his first second chance at life. He has since become light of my life. He’s my hiking buddy, my cuddle bug, and my best friend. The amount of love I have for this dog is absolutely immeasurable.

This week, Curly Joe underwent a very pricey and very risky surgery for unexpected abdominal bloat. It was a situation I couldn’t have controlled; a freak incident that I’m glad I discovered before it was too late. The animal hospital gave me the choice to euthanize him at 7 years old or get surgery to save his life. I chose to save Joe a second time. I wanted to spend more time with this animal that brings so much joy to my life. While I had some money saved up for emergencies, I didn’t have nearly as much as the bill, which led me to maxing out my credit cards to move forward with the surgery.

I normally am not the type to ask for help, but this time around I need it. I recently received a pay cut at work, and a 10% raise in my cost of living which has me bringing in 2.5k less a year than I have in previous years. Unfortunately this scenario has set me back financially to where it is going to be difficult to recover without help.

I promise to use the money to pay off my vet bills and to help Curly Joe heal.

The surgery deposit at the Emergency Animal Hospital was 9,000 dollars, and the initial visit with his primary care vet was 750 bucks. I’d love to recover a portion of that by way of your generosity and love for animals. Curly Joe is such a sweet dog, and deserved to live a longer life. I appreciate anything you can give, even if it’s just a dollar. Anything helps, and we’d be eternally grateful.
