HELLO EVERYONE !
MY NAME IS JULIE SMITH AND I OWN AND OPERATE AN INDEPENDENT BAKERY CALLED CUPCAKESTERS. WE ARE FAMILY OWNED BY MYSELF, MY HUSBAND AND OUR SON. WE ARE LOCATED IN MESA ARIZONA AT THE COCONUT GROVES SHOPPING CENTER AT LINDSAY AND UNIVERSITY.

Baking is my passion ! I have been a trained chef for many years and now I focus solely on the sweet side.
At the age of 45 in 2013, my hubby and I decided to get out debt and and start the process of realizing my dream!!!! In 2017 I retired from a corporate paycheck to start saving for my dream. It took 3 years for me to work from my home kitchen, build a good reputation and provide a quality product. In 2020, we were successful in bidding and obtaining a brick and mortar location for Cupcakesters, even though it was during a pandemic. My hubby and our friends Mark and Michele went and totally remodeled and gave a facelift to the space. We worked non stop for 9 weeks and finally able to open . It has bee a constant struggle to be able to purchase simple items such as groceries for the shop, keep utilities maintained. We have fallen behind in the rent and my grocery suppliers have cut off my line of credit.
OUR LANDLANDY/ BUILDING OWNER HAS GIVEN US 6 WEEKS ( TIL OCTOBER 30TH) TO CATCH UP OUR RENT AND STOP OUR DECLINE.
This is my passion, my dream and my entire life savings all rolled into one !! I have worked non stop everyday, arriving at 5 am and staying until 6 pm every day. I am in charge of planning all the cupcakes, cookies, breads and other sweet treats !! We make everything by hand, no bread machines, no dough rollers etc.. All fresh and unique items such as Honey oat bread, chocolate bread, smores cupcakes, brookies etc.. There are days when my hands hurt so bad I can not even grab a spatula. I am so afraid of failure and right now this is all I feel. I am reaching out to my community , friends & family and unknown angels that can donate t help me save my dream, Cupcakesters.
Here in our store we have set up 9 ladies who sell handmade, homemade items. From jams and jellies, organic goats milk soaps an herbal products, lavendar sachets and dried lavendar bouquets, handmade one of a kind greeting cards and many more items to choose from.
We take pride in being able to assist these ladies with the additional family support, money support and general all around boost of confidence. I truly d not want to let these ladies down!! My heart is so heavy !!!
We like to consider ourselves part of our community and we support as we can. Highland Arts elementary and Poston Junior high are some of our biggest supporters.
We also support many outreach programs. I personally do not believe in waste so e have established a system here, that once our products are down to a few days of shelf life, we pull it and offer on them on the discount shelf for a drastically reduced rate, this way individuals who may not be able to afford a full price item, can pay less and still have a quality product, sweet treat etc. Once our products are at the last day of shelf life, we put them in our freezer, then reach out to local charities, food banks, shelters to see if they are needing donations. We work with multiple locations of A New Leaf, rehab center... Just a Center ( Phoenix ), St. Vincent De Paul and any other organization who might need food to help feed the masses.
Now we come to the hard part...... We are struggling as most Americans are these days!! But I m reaching out to garner support and raise the funds needed to keep us going. We are 6 weeks away from losing our shop and thus letting my family down, my extended family in the 9 ladies that sell goods from here plus the shopping center will lose an anchor establishment and cause fewer customers for the surrounding business such AS : ICONIC GANES AND HOBBIES, LETS PLAY MUSIC, 48 STATE DOG TRAINING AND GROOMING .
I ask for anyone who is able to donate, even if just 1.00 to please do so. We need all the help we can get WE can get.
