Save Cosmo: Sila's Lifeline Needs You

My name is Bridgette, but I go by Kit. I am raising funds for my best friend Sila’s service dog. He has had some unexpected medical expenses come up.

Sila's service dog, Cosmo, is in the hospital right now fighting an illness we still don’t understand. Late on the night of November 19th, he woke up struggling to stand. His legs wobbled under him, and he drifted into walls like he couldn’t see where he was going. He was exhausted, confused, and nothing like his usual bright self. They rushed him to the emergency vet, where they ran bloodwork, ruled out several serious conditions, and gave him anti nausea medication. That visit alone came to about $650.
By morning, nothing had changed. They brought him to his regular vet hoping for clarity, but after examining him, they urged them to take him to the animal hospital immediately. They were worried enough to recommend hospitalization on the spot. This was $80 for the visit alone.

At the hospital, the team ran through every possibility they could think of. They are treating him as a potential toxicity case, took X rays, ran electrolyte panels, and checked for any obvious cause. Everything came back normal. With no clear leads, the only option was to admit him for 24 hours of IV fluids, medications, and a full toxicity screening panel. This added another $1,700. When the toxicology results came back completely clean, everyone is left with no answers and a very sick dog.

Right now, Cosmo can barely keep his balance. He pants nonstop, can’t rest, and seems lost inside his own body. Watching him like this has been heartbreaking. Cosmo isn’t just a pet. He is Sila's service dog and the foundation that their daily life relies on. He gets them out of bed, out of the house, and through days that would be impossible without him. He has supported Sila through some of the darkest moments of their life. Now he needs support in return.

The financial strain is overwhelming. Their personal credit card is fully maxed out from these emergency visits, and their next step is applying for CareCredit to try to keep his treatment going. If IV fluids don’t bring improvement, the next step will be a neurology consult and brain imaging, which will cost thousands more.

We are asking for help because we want to give Cosmo every chance to recover. He is young, full of love, and has so much life left to enjoy. Any contribution helps them move forward with his care. For anyone who prefers to donate directly to the vet instead of GoFundMe, we can provide the hospital’s information as well.

Thank you for reading Cosmo’s story, and thank you for caring about him. Your support means everything right now. We are already almost $4000 in and have no answers yet.
