Help My Sweet Boy Cooper

This is my family dog, Cooper — my 10-year-old schnauzer and childhood best friend. Last night, I had to rush him to the emergency vet because he was shaking uncontrollably and drooling. After five long hours of tests and treatment, we learned that his organs are inflamed, and his heart is enlarged. The vet thinks the problem is originating from his liver.

The vet recommended transferring him to internal specialist for further care, but the estimated cost is $8,000 or more. My family and I have already spent thousands of dollars on his emergency visit along which his regular vet visits for his medications, and treatments, but we simply can’t afford the specialist fees. We had to bring him home with medication to try to stabilize him, but he’s still struggling and refusing to take his meds.

Cooper has always been such a healthy, happy, and playful dog he’s always been nothing but energetic — seeing him like this has been absolutely heartbreaking. We’ve exhausted all of our payment options, and I just want to give him the chance to get better.

Update!!!!!10/21/25

Plans for Cooper have changed since his condition is urgent and it can be weeks before we can see an internal medicine specialist to get treated. We found a website that also is helping us campaign for Cooper, they have been extremely helpful with helping boost their own campaign for Cooper. We decided to get him treated in Mexico they are quoting us $3,000 (possibly less considering he’s a smaller dog, but we are unsure as of right now) which is way better than $8,000 to possibly $10,000. My family and I are determined to make the drive there from Chicago to San Diego so that he can cross the border to Mexico with mexivet(an organization that helps dogs and other animals cross the border to get treated in Mexico)by tonight . But we still need help with funds to get there and the stay there, as of right now we aren’t sure how long our stay there is going to be. Again ANYTHING at all helps since our circumstances have changed, our goal has also changed from $8,000 to $3,000 this would would help us with the drive there as well again anything at all helps thank you to everyone who has already donated and helped in whatever way they could.
