Help Save Confusion International Skateboard Magazine
Donation protected
After 15 years of running Confusion, an international skateboard magazine focusing on skater-built spots, building a global underground DIY skateboarding community, breaking down borders and bringing together skate scenes and cultures around the world, we have dug a hole so deep we can’t get out of without your help.
Please help support Confusion magazine by donating whatever you can spare so we can keep this project running now and into the future. Help keep skateboarding print media alive!
Over the last half decade or so, rising costs have hit us hard. Shipping expenses have doubled, operational costs have soared and we’ve fallen into tens of thousands of euros in debt in an attempt to save the magazine from extinction. So now we reluctantly come to you - our readers, supporters, followers, and contributors – as a last ditch effort to get financial support by means of donation, because without your support, we risk losing not just the print magazine, but also all our connected media channels.
The amount of time it takes to keep the social media, youtube and website updated with fresh content is immense, as well as the financial costs of our web server and storage (both digital and physical) and without the advertising income that supports it - if the print magazine goes down, the whole ship sinks with it.
In 2010, a phoenix rose out of the ashes of Concussion Magazine (1997-2008) as Confusion Magazine soared into the global DIY skate scene covering and inspiring skaters and builders around the world, further building on this ever-evolving and expanding environment of renegade skateable creations.
Through your contributions over the years with photos, articles, videos, diy builds and stories, it is all of you reading this now that have created Confusion and made it more than just a regular skate magazine but rather a culmination from an international community of like minded creative creatures connected across the world through a similar passion.
Confusion magazine belongs to all of you that have helped develop and grow this communal project since it’s conception 15 years ago, just as the DIY skate spot building phenomenon was really starting to build up to the height it is today!
Confusion magazine is one of, if not the only skateboard magazines that has refused support from corporate non-skateboarding companies as a means to keep a skater run magazine in the hands of skaters and skater-run brands, not just taking anyone's money, if their ethos didn’t reflect our own.
Another thing to keep in mind is that through our online presence and connectivity with over 100,000 followers world-wide on social media and with our website (confuzine com ) we have been helping raise funds and support for hundreds of DIY spots and volunteer-based organizations over the years and around the globe. Without the print magazine and our online channels we can not continue to reach out to our audience to help support your projects.
For those of you who have subscribed or purchased copies of the magazine or clothing and other Confusion merchandise online or at a skateshop, thank you for your support! Without you, we would not have come this far or even made it into our second year of existence.
And for those of you who have received the magazine for free over the years or enjoyed the videos, photos and featured stories, projects and interviews online without ever paying for anything, we especially ask you to please donate to keep the Confusion magazine DIY dream alive! If you all put in what you can afford, we can keep this going! And if you don’t, then this next issue will be our last.
As a bonus incentive, we will be giving out random rewards along the way - not just to the biggest contributors but even to the smallest. We will give away some “out of print” t-shirts, rare back issues, original archival photo prints from the editor and contributors and whatever we find in the boxes of collectibles that we can give out as an additional incentive.
On top of that, anyone who donates more than $100 / €100 can have their name listed in the next issue’s staff section under “contributors”. This is a one time “make it or break it” fund raiser - so please think about donating. Your support ensures that we can continue to inspire, inform, and connect the underground DIY scene for many years to come.
Confusion is a viewer-supported, independent, international magazine funded by supporters like you. Please support our cause by donating today to help keep Confusion Magazine alive. We can’t do this without YOU! Thank you. Gracias. Danke. Merci. Bedankt. Kiitos. Obrigado. Eskerrik asko. Grazie. Arigato.
