Blaze has been the wonder pony to 4 year old Cody. Surprising for a $150 pony purchased at a horse auction, Blaze found his forever home at the Kitchens-Palenzuela farm in Banks County Georgia. He's enjoyed a life of luxury and even local shows with his boy Cody, and due to no fault of his own, ended up with a severe injury this week. The injury has him in such tremendous pain that he cannot bear any weight on his leg.

Blaze's family is stuck between a rock and a hard place... to do a surgery that is out of their budget right now, or let poor blaze out of his misery. From Jill: On Friday, Dr Peroni came out for a follow up check on Blaze. While we were really hoping that Blaze had a locked stifle, the X-rays confirmed that Blaze's left femur is subluxated (ball of hip completely removed from hip joint), and his patella is dislocated. The only way to give Blaze comfort long-term is going to be a surgery that we can not afford. We were scheduled to have him euthanized yesterday, however, Blaze just didn't seem ready to go just yet. He's bright and happy with a healthy appetite, and he's getting around decent. Yesterday he actually wanted to venture out of his stall for some grazing. For now, we are going to do all we can to keep him comfortable, but we will not let Blaze suffer.  In the short time we have had him, he has given us so much love, and he has been nothing but kind and gentle with Cody, so he deserves all the best.  - Jill
