Hi, I'm Loretta and I am here for Coco, my 12-year-old lab-mix and distinguished gentleman. This weekend, we found that Coco was passing some bladder stones and peeing blood. I collected over 20, and I'm sure there were several more that he left in the yard. We went to the vet this morning, and after an x-ray and ultrasound, it's been determined that he needs surgery to remove the rest of the stones from his bladder. Today's visit set me back over $400 (exam, x-ray, ultrasound, antibiotics, and pain meds) and wiped out my emergency fund. They wanted to do surgery this week, but without the funds, I was not able to schedule it. I have it tentatively scheduled for November 20th in hopes that I can raise the funds between now and then. The surgery estimate is attached here, and unfortunately, the longer I wait, the better the chance that one of the larger stones could get stuck in his urethra, which would increase the surgery cost.
Coco is a mild-mannered, gentle dog that lives a full, happy life. He is usually playful and loves doing local charity walks, going to my godson's deck hockey games, camping, and visiting our local nursing home, bringing joy to many. His prognosis is good after surgery and will just need some dietary changes and follow-up care.
