Coco’s Legacy: Support Her Last Treatments
Donation protected
Updated: Sept 10.
Thank you so much to all who have donated to try to save Coco. It’s with great sadness that I wanted to share we lost my sweet fur baby last night. The vets and technicians at Burlington Emergency Veterinary Specialists did everything they could and I want to express my deepest gratitude for all of their around-the-clock expert care and compassion up until her last moments. I’m grateful that I was able to hold her in my arms before she passed over the rainbow bridge.
I’ve updated the total I’m trying to raise to cover the final vet bill, and as before, I appreciate any support to cover the expenses. Here is a copy of the bill:

Original post on Sept 8:
Hi, I am Bridget Thomas. I have loved and had dogs as companions for as long as I can remember. Today, I am asking for help to pay an emergency vet bill for my sweet little rescue shorkie (shih-tzu yorkie mix), named Coco. She has been with me for six out of her seven year life-span so far, and "Coco Puff" (her nickname) is a huge light in our lives.
Currently, Coco is hospitalized for cluster grand mal seizures at Burlington Emergency Veterinary Specialists (BEVS), fighting for her life. Her cluster of seizures began yesterday (Sept. 7) at 11 am, and she had more than 10 seizures within a 24-hour period through today (Sept. 8). After trying 3 new medications, she kept having seizures, so she is now hooked up to a constant-drip anti-seizure med for 8 hours that slows her brain activity in the hopes of stopping the seizures completely. I'm hoping this will be the final answer so that she can recover and resume a healthy life.
Unfortunately, emergency vet services come with a high price tag, and Coco's epilepsy is a pre-existing condition that pet insurance wouldn't cover, even if I carry it. If she returns home tomorrow, Coco's total emergency vet bill will likely amount to an estimated $6375. I have already paid $2600 shown in the receipt (right photo below), and the future estimated treatment plan is expected to be up to $3776.52 as shown (left image below):
I will keep this campaign updated in the chance that Coco may need a longer stay, however, I hope this won't be needed. For now, I am asking for help to cover the estimated costs for Coco's emergency care since I didn't plan for this expense, and don't have the savings to cover it.
More about Coco:
Coco, my "little nugget" (her other nickname), came to me with many health issues including assumed epilepsy, along with multiple allergies that affect her skin/eyes/ears. She's been on seizure meds (phenobarbital) for 6 years which typically keep her seizure-free, though that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment. Despite all of this, you will find her tail always wagging, especially when I come home and she greets me at the door, and she is always eager to be picked up and put on a lap. She loves going on big walks with her brother dogs. She is spunky, feisty and has a fun personality that wins over most people who meet her. I fell in love with her the moment I met her, and she has been by my side ever since.
Thank you on behalf of Coco, and please know that any size donation is appreciated!
