Oakland’s First Black Woman-Owned Wine Tasting Room Needs Your Support
Hi, I’m Alicia Kidd, and I need your help to keep something special alive in Oakland.
In December 2022, I opened CoCo Noir Wine Shop & Bar in Downtown Oakland—making history as the city’s first and only Black woman-owned wine tasting room and bistro. What started as a pandemic dream has become Oakland’s premier destination for wine culture, community gathering, and economic opportunity for underrepresented creators.
A Survivor and Thriver in Oakland’s Recovery
Oakland is still in recovery from some of the hardest post-pandemic challenges in the nation. While many beloved local businesses have been forced to close, CoCo Noir has not only survived—we’ve thrived because of the incredible community that believes in us.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has already supported this vision. Your belief in CoCo Noir has allowed us to keep pushing forward and growing when so many others couldn’t.
Why CoCo Noir Matters
CoCo Noir isn’t just another wine bar. We’re a community catalyst and hospitality pipeline where:
• BIPOC, POC, and women entrepreneurs get platforms to showcase their talents—chefs, caterers, winemakers, beer makers, and non-alcoholic beverage creators who don’t always have access to brick-and-mortar spaces
• Local artists and musicians perform for appreciative audiences
• Oakland residents gather for wine tastings, chef dinners, live music, and cultural events
• The next generation of hospitality leaders can grow their skills and businesses
By keeping CoCo Noir alive, you’re supporting a space where
underrepresented entrepreneurs can showcase their skills, generate revenue, and develop into industry leaders.

From My Heart
Opening CoCo Noir during the pandemic was an act of faith—faith in Oakland, in community, and in the power of bringing people together over good wine and food.
Your continued support validates that faith and ensures we can keep serving as Oakland’s hub for wine culture and community connection.
Thank you for standing with us and believing in CoCo Noir, in Oakland, and in the vision of a more inclusive hospitality industry.
Let’s raise a glass to resilience, opportunity, and Oakland’s future—together, we can keep CoCo Noir thriving.
