Hi. My name is Courtney, and we are looking for some prayers and support for our beloved girl, Coco. Let me tell you, this girl loves watching her squirrels from the window, but yesterday was a different story…. My husband was outside with her, and not 10 seconds went by before she was gone, chasing a squirrel up our road. He immediately took off to find her with our 2 boys. Upon pulling back down our road, there she was laying on the ground at the top of our road that leads onto a busy highway. He immediately knew she was hit. He could see that she was bleeding from road rash but also noticed she couldn’t walk. Immediately, he took her to the closest emergency vet. They told us that she has 3 fractures in her pelvis and spine, and she also has fluid built up in her lungs. They referred us to a specialist hospital to get the surgery she needed. Upon arrival, they stabilized her to make her comfortable. They drained the fluids from her chest/lungs in hopes of getting her body stable enough for surgery. Today, we received an update that she has pulmonary edema and is unable to urinate on her own. They are currently wanting to put a catheter in but are being very careful to do so as her lungs are not where they would like them to be to go under for the catheter. They are unsure when she will be able to undergo surgery… It could be a couple of days from now. At this point, we are $10,000 + in and have maxed out our CareCredit and all pet cards. They do not know what the total will be as they do not know what the future holds until they are able to get her lungs working and go in for the surgery. We are terrified and heartbroken for our sweet girl and are doing everything in our power to keep her here with us.
