Help Us Give Christleton Preschool a New Home

Hi, welcome to Christleton Preschool — a small, not-for-profit preschool that’s been at the heart of our beautiful village since 1983.

For over 40 years, our little preschool has been running from the same Scout Hut, filled with laughter, love, and learning. Generations of local children have taken their very first steps into the world right here. But now, we’ve reached a heartbreaking crossroads — we’ve outgrown our home, and we simply can’t give our children the safe, inspiring space they deserve anymore.

Why We Need Your Help

Our Scout Hut sits right beside a busy main road, where pollution levels are now deemed unsafe for children. Our outdoor area is tiny, and though we make the most of every inch, it’s no longer enough. We’re running out of safe, clean space for our children to explore, play, and thrive.

On top of that, we’re facing financial struggles that many small charities know all too well. Government funding doesn’t come close to covering our costs. We can’t increase our hours, because the hut is used by other groups. Every member of staff has already voluntarily cut their hours and pay just to help that little bit more.

We do it because we love what we do — because these children mean the world to us. But it’s getting harder every day.

Our Dream

Our dream is to build a new preschool building on the grounds of Christleton Primary School. This would be life-changing — for our staff, for local families, and most importantly, for the children.

A new building means clean air and a safe, nurturing environment.

It means a big outdoor area for our little ones to run, play, and explore nature.

It means longer hours and more flexibility for parents.

It means a future — one where Christleton Preschool can keep giving children the best possible start in life.

The Heart of Christleton Preschool

Anyone in Christleton will know our amazing manager, Dawn Sturgess. She’s dedicated 21 years of her life to this preschool — pouring her heart into every single child who’s walked through our doors. Dawn has been personally paying for snacks and supplies out of her own pocket for years, as have all our staff.

We don’t do this for a paycheck. We do it because we care. Because every child matters. Because this preschool is so much more than a workplace — it’s family.

It breaks our hearts to see big nursery chains making huge profits while small, community-run settings like ours are struggling to survive. We know how much love and care goes into what we do. Every smile, every giggle, every “I did it!” moment is what keeps us going.
