I have turned the donations back on for those who still with to help Chris transition to a new life in Ecuador. To fund the rehousing, shipment of his belongings, and helping his family adjust financially after losing half of the income.

After 24 hours of heartfelt donations, prayers, and support, I have decided to stop the go fund me campaign…

Chris has been incarcerated by ICE for the past 8 days, during this time he was treated very poorly within the facilities. He was starved, dehydrated, harassed, in constant distress, and left to sleep in unsanitary conditions, He was even sprayed with water hoses as a “shower” and cut off from communication with the outside world due to relentless transfer to multiple buildings. He has been shuffled from one cage to the next, held in over crowded cells with out air conditioning. After days of this torture he was broken by the system, and terrified. Late in the evening on July 25th, ICE presented him with an ultimatum- either stay here and suffer until your court date - or sign now and voluntarily deport.

He caved under the pressure and signed the forms before receiving attorney guidance.

He is undoubtedly returning to Ecuador with the negotiation of a 6 month ban from re-entry to the states.

The funds that you all have provided, will be reallocated to support his legal aid in Ecuador. The donations will be used at the consulate to fight for his return to the United States. And will be allocated wisely to pay for legal fees and apply for a new visa. In time he will be able to plead his case, and hopefully return home to his wife and child with a year.

Our heart goes out to each and every person who supported this campaign. It greatly helps Chris’s family to afford the cost of this major transition. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for standing with us during this fight for justice. We won’t forget it.
