Chomper with 3 legs

Chomper got hit by a white SUV on the evening of August 9th on Olive Drive.  He broke through the fence of my house when he heard fireworks (this gives him immediate and intense anxiety) and ran out of the neighborhood. Since June,  he has had issues with trying to break through the fence and run to my parent’s house whenever he hears fireworks. People witnessed him get hit and followed him in their car while he limped his way into my parents neighborhood. They helped him until we got there.

We immediately drove him to the pet hospital. His right hind leg is completely broken with an open fracture and will require surgery. The surgery to attempt to repair his leg carries more risk for complications and a lower success rate not to mention more than twice as much money. I made the decision to have them amputate it tonight or tomorrow (August 10-11) because I feel this will give him his best shot at a good quality of life. The vet is estimating the surgery will cost $3,000-4,000. If you’re able and willing to donate even $20 it would help this situation not break the bank as much.
