Help Save Chipi My Baby, My Shadow

Hi everyone, my name is Esme and I’m fundraising for my sweet cat Chipi, who truly is my baby. We rescued him off the street three years ago, and ever since then he has struggled with severe anxiety. He doesn’t go anywhere without me. He sleeps beside me every night, follows me around all day, and has become my emotional support and my little shadow.

Because of his stress and genetics, Chipi has been at risk for urinary blockages. In June, he had his first scare and was immediately put on antibiotics and a strict prescription diet to prevent crystals from forming and blocking his urethra. I have watched him closely and cared for him constantly to keep him safe.

Unfortunately, this condition is not something that can be fully prevented without surgery.

Last night, I noticed Chipi vomiting, crying, and becoming extremely sensitive to touch. When I saw he was bleeding rectally, I rushed him to the emergency room. They confirmed that he was blocked again and needed an immediate urethral and bladder flush. I paid over $3,000 on the spot, even though my original quote was $6,000 for the full procedure and a three day hospital stay.

Because I simply don’t have the funds, I had to decline the full hospitalization and take him home early. It terrified me, but I had no other choice.

Today, I’ve been trying to get him into a primary vet for aftercare, but none were able to take him in. I am now faced with either taking him back to the emergency hospital, which will be thousands more, or traveling to Mexico tomorrow to get him the continued care he desperately needs. I do not know what those bills will be, but I am doing everything I can to save him.

This has all happened so fast and I’m doing this alone. Any donation, truly any amount, means the world and will go directly toward Chipi’s medical care, aftercare, and potential surgery so he can get better and come home safe.
