Tax deductible
For 25 years ChildLight Montessori school has provided a gentle, loving, and secure preschool and kindergarten learning environment for children aged 3-6 in the southern Maine and New Hampshire communities.

Founder Pat Haas had the vision to ensure Montessori education could be available to all children and families who wanted it, not just to those who could afford it. Because of that dedication, one third of all students in a given year were the recipients of scholarship money.

Unfortunately, ChildLight Montessori School has had to close its doors for the school year and, without emergency funding, for good. A significant drop in enrollment, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has led to the Board's decision to close the school. As a small non-profit, the school simply cannot withstand this loss of income.

Friends of ChildLight, the separate non-profit parent group, is moving ahead with an emergency fundraising campaign called Save the Light to keep ChildLight Montessori School from permanent closure.
Our goal is to raise $50,000
If we reach this monumental number, ChildLight Montessori School will still remain closed for this school year, but the building will not have to be sold, saving the school for next year when it can more safely reopen.
If we are not able to reach our goal by September 9th, ChildLight will close permanently.
In that event, the money that we do raise will be given to the teachers and staff as a symbol of our heartfelt thanks for all the love and dedication that they have shown to our children.

This pandemic has hit us all, businesses and individuals alike, but we beg you to help us save ChildLight because we know that ChildLight is worth saving.
With sincere thanks,
Rachel Engelman
President of Friends of ChildLight
