Save Charlie: Our Beloved Frenchie's Battle

Donation protected
Charlie is our 4-year-old Frenchie. Charlie is the youngest of our three dogs and is the little brother to Tucker, a Frenchie, and Rocco, our German Shepherd. Charlie is the baby among the bunch; he's a mama's boy, he's our cuddle bug, he loves to give kisses and sleep in our lap. Charlie is your typical high-energy Frenchie, and he's our mischievous one. Charlie is a very special boy!

Charlie has always been a healthy dog.
Last Friday, we saw Charlie acting differently; he wasn't himself and was lethargic. We rushed him to the ER and were told it was IVDD, a spinal ailment known in Frenchies. The vet didn't have a neurologist working the weekend, so they sent us home with meds. We weren’t able to get a neurologist appointment until today (Tuesday). While his visit with the neurologist went well, Charlie went into respiratory failure while we drove home from the vet. Before making it home, we rushed Charlie back to the vet. Charlie was having trouble breathing and vomited. Charlie was rushed into the ER but had to be intubated to allow the machine to breathe for him. The vet said that Charlie also got fluids in his lungs from the vomiting, causing pneumonia.

After about 6 hours, they removed the breathing tube, and Charlie is now in an oxygen chamber trying to breathe on his own.

He's currently at Blue Pearl Vet Hospital in Newark, DE. As it stands, we’re hoping Charlie makes it through the night.

Charlie and all our animals are special. We adore Charlie. He's the baby boy, the funny one. Charlie loves all his brothers, and we couldn't imagine our lives without Charlie. Charlie brings smiles to our faces every day. Charlie loves to sing (howl) with Rocco and play tug-of-war with Tucker. He's always trying to sneak a snack or will be at your feet smiling, waiting for that handout.

This is such an unexpected emergency, and unfortunately, we have no backup money for the vet expenses. We’re doing our best, but without the funding, we may have no other option but to say goodbye to our Charlie boy, which would break our hearts!!

Please help! Anything would mean the world to Katie and me. Please help this little boy get better and come home.
