Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read our story. My name is Sasipa Chanon and my family has run a small Thai restaurant in Salt Lake City for 19 years. Our restaurant is our heart—it supports our family and is a place where we welcome customers like friends.
Recently, our family has been going through the hardest time we have ever faced. My father became seriously ill, and the cost of his medical care has become overwhelming. At the same time, the restaurant’s sales have dropped, and it has been extremely difficult to keep up with daily expenses and keep our doors open. We have tried every possible way to stay afloat. I looked into business assistance through the SBA, but due to our legal status, we did not qualify for SBA support like many other small businesses. Because of this, I had no choice but to take out high-interest loans just to keep the restaurant running while caring for my father. These loans have created a heavy financial burden that we are struggling to manage during this already painful time.
It is very difficult for me to ask for help, but right now I truly don’t know where else to turn. Every donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward my father’s medical expenses and helping our small restaurant survive until we can stand on our own again.
