Celo is in Urgent Need of Donations for Veterinary Care!

Hi, I’m Lisa Duke, and I’m raising funds for Celo, a Cane Corso dog, soon to be in the care of Koch's Corsos & Rescues, an incredible organization dedicated to rescuing and recovering abandoned, abused, and homeless companion animals.

UPDATE: Celo had surgery late last week (8/15) and is recuperating at a foster's home. Her surgery and veterinary bills are well over $6,500 and rising. CELO - *MEDICALLY URGENT*

CELO (A548818, F, 1 yr 6 mo, 57 lb, 7/24/25 intake) – Cane Corso

This sweet, gentle soul has been let down by many. Celo is one of those dogs who probably views the PG County MD shelter as a heaven, instead of a hell. Her body is broken but her spirit is not. She still gives kind people a wag of her adorably stubby tail.

Celo was in the same shelter as a 6 month old stray puppy in June 2024. She was returned to her owner, unspayed. Her condition a year later is shocking. She is thin, has skin issues and has a rectal prolapse. (*Viewer discretion advised for the photos*) How you can let a dog get to this condition is pure cruelty and neglect. And before there are people defending the past owner “maybe they couldn’t afford the treatment”…just stop. This is cruelty.

Celo met fellow injured pup Truffle outside and showed no aggression. Celo has a remarkably positive spirit…just soaking up all the love and kindness she can. Celo enjoyed her bowl of stew and just wagged the whole time. Do you have the time, space and experience to give sweet Celo a soft place to recover? She’ll need surgery. Can we rally around her and commit to showing her that there are good people in the world and she’ll never be hurt or abandoned or neglected again.
