Emergency Relief for Cats Affected by Hurricane Melissa
When Hurricane Melissa tore through the region, it didn’t just devastate homes — it left countless cats hungry, displaced, and scared.
OnlyPaws, a small volunteer-run rescue, is on the ground right now delivering food and supplies to people and communities in crisis. We’re feeding both owned cats whose families have lost everything, and stray cats struggling to survive the aftermath.
Our team is distributing dry and wet food, litter, and medical supplies to storm-hit neighborhoods — many of which still don’t have power or access to pet stores. We’re also continuing our rescue and spay/neuter efforts for cats who’ve been injured, abandoned, or separated from their families.
But we can’t do it without you.
Every donation helps us restock food, purchase transport carriers, and cover emergency vet bills for hurricane victims.
I am a remote outreach volunteer and have worked with the owner, Ash, for two years doing all volunteer related animal welfare work.
UPDATE: We held our first event giving out 1,500 lbs of cat food (and a few 100 lbs of dog food from another organization). We were there from 10am-6pm and ran out of all food. Volunteers also went out with cat food to feed any animals impacted.
