Save Cat Tails Rescue!!

Tax deductible
An organization that is near and dear to my heart needs help!

A combination of COVID restrictions and a dramatic overflow of kittens and cats who need a home has created trouble with their organization. They need to raise money to continue creating a safe home for their rescue cats as they transition to their full time homes!

The full note from Shelley is below for you to read. Personally - I really believe in this operation. Shelley & AWR Cat Tails rescued my two boys, Ron & Franklin, from Oklahoma and brought them to Denver, where I adopted them.

Shelley does AMAZING work and has enormous passion for all living animals. With the challenges raised by COVID in transporting and care for these cats - she has fallen on hard times and needs our support.

I want to help Shelley & Cat Tails raise $11K to combat the situation outlined below. Please help if you are inclined!

NOTE FROM SHELLEY AT AWR:

A dreadful situation is ongoing at my cat rescue in Pueblo, AWR Cat Tails. And I desperately need your help now. On Wednesday, Oct. 28th, agents from the Pueblo Police Department, the State of Colorado Department of Agriculture, Pet Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA), and Animal Law Enforcement ambushed my rescue and our cats with a no-notice search and seizure warrant. For almost 5 hours, they captured and took away 78 of our cats! It was awful, and there was nothing I could do to defend the rescue. Police escorted me out of my building at once and made me remain outside and away from the seizure operations—or be arrested.

Before this heartless and excessive raid, I was cited for violations concerning my operation of this shelter. Foremost, the biggest complaint was for having too many cats here in the rescue. Soon after, we began seeking several adoptions and transfers to get my total cat number down and seek compliance. The excess number of cats in my custody was complicated by several issues beyond my control, and mostly due to the onset of the Pandemic. As the COVID-19 virus impacted Colorado, adoption rates declined because key adoption centers at PetSmart stores discontinued or greatly limited their typically successful programs. To further hinder my adoption system, veterinary hospitals and clinics were closed for long periods due to the mandatory orders from Governor Polis to try to stop the spread of the virus. As a result, mandatory vaccinations, spay and neuter services, and other medical treatments, were restricted and delayed. On top of that, 4 major adoption events were cancelled.

To make matters worse, I face a serious charge of animal cruelty which may carry dire consequences. If convicted, I will lose my rescue license forever, and face punishment! We are striving to find funding every day, but we need to raise another $11,000 to cover legal expenses by the end of December. As one animal lover to another, I implore you to consider support for me and the fate of my rescue. Your donations at whatever level you can afford would greatly be needed and appreciated. More information about AWR Cat Tails Rescue: AWR Cat Tails Rescue is a non-profit located in Pueblo, CO. Founded in 2007 by Shelley McPherson who cultivated both it and her surrounding community. Her goals were simple: to take in cats who needed help, and then connect them with Forever Homes. We do not euthanize, and we do not discriminate! Some of our furry residents have been mistreated, abandoned, sick or injured-- we love and care for them no matter what! Each and every one of these little lives deserves love and a safe place to call home.
