While this happens, our 159-year-old cricket club is now locked out of our home ground through no fault of our own.
We can only hope the new owner will want to continue to house sport on the site.
However, we remain determined to carry on the innings for the dozens of senior and junior players who proudly represent the club every week, simply for the love of the game.
We are having to pay to play our games at other clubs’ grounds while we fight to keep our club in existence.
But without access to our own base and ground, funds are dwindling.
Our first priority is to secure the club’s future.
With that in mind, we are launching a fighting fund to get us through to the end of the season and then fight on into our 160th year.
We are looking to raise £10,000 to secure our immediate future, pay for pitches and allow cricketers of all ages to play the sport.
Club members are raising funds in a number of different ways.
In the meantime, we are hoping people in Cannock, Staffordshire and the wider cricket family beyond will help us.
Any donation would be welcome and will help us keep our five weekend adult teams and numerous junior teams playing the game we love.
We don’t like to ask for help, and we will do all we can to raise the funds we need.
However we would be hugely grateful for any assistance you can offer our efforts.
Thank you, from all at Cannock Cricket Club.
