Help Save Historic Camp Kootaga!
For over 100 years, Camp Kootaga has been a place where Boy Scouts discover adventure, build leadership, and form lifelong friendships. Nestled on 377 acres of pristine wilderness in Walker, West Virginia, this beloved camp has touched the lives of countless young people—and now, it needs your help.
The Buckskin Council has announced plans to sell Camp Kootaga. But there is hope. We have a rare and urgent opportunity to secure the camp’s future by ensuring it remains what it was always meant to be: a place for youth development, community, and outdoor adventure.
Our Mission
The newly formed Camp Kootaga Foundation is stepping up to acquire, maintain, and operate the property—not just for Scouts, but for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, school groups, weddings, retreats, and community events. We believe Camp Kootaga should be a shared resource for generations to come.
What We Need
The property is appraised at $1.1 million and offers that continue the camp’s use as an outdoor space are being strongly prioritized. With your support, we have a real chance to make this happen.
How Your Donation Helps
Your contribution will go directly toward the purchase of the camp and help launch its future. Once acquired, the Camp Kootaga Foundation Board of Directors will oversee all operations, keeping the camp well-maintained and financially sustainable through donations, rentals, and community support.
Be Part of This Legacy
Every gift—big or small—brings us closer to saving this historic place. Whether you’ve been to Camp Kootaga or simply believe in the power of the outdoors to shape young lives, you can help preserve this legacy.
Donate today and help secure the future of Camp Kootaga!
Together, we can keep the campfire burning for generations to come.
