Hi Everyone,
I’m putting this out there for my best friend Alexis and her sweet rescue cat, Callie, who’s in the fight of her life — and needs a little help to keep fighting.
Callie has been part of the family for the past 6 years. She’s grown up with their daughters — Mia (14) and Piper (5) — and is loved to bits by her whole crew, including her feline bestie. She’s sassy, snuggly, and the queen of her castle.
The twist? Callie is a strictly indoor cat. But somehow, one tiny mosquito snuck in and caused absolute havoc. That bite transmitted a parasite that triggered severe anemia. When Alexis rushed her to the vet, her red blood cell count was at 6% — when it should be at least 30%.
The vet recommended a blood transfusion and 24/7 care at a specialty clinic in Ottawa — but the cost is over $5,000, which just isn’t doable for the family right now. Instead, they’re giving her IV fluids, antibiotics, and daily monitoring, which is still over $1,000 just for the next two days.
They’re hoping against hope that this treatment will be enough. But they need our support.
If you’re able to help with a donation (seriously, even a few dollars makes a difference), or share this post to get the word out, it would mean the world. This isn’t something anyone could’ve predicted — and it definitely couldn’t have been prevented.
Let’s rally for Callie and give this fierce little cat the fighting chance she deserves.
Thank you so much for reading, caring, and being part of her village. ❤️
