Dear families, friends, beloved customers, and supporters who know us or just come across this campaign.
This is a worrying time for us all and we are fighting for survival.
We need your help to get through this challenging time.During this pandemic unfortunately our journey has been paused and severely affected. There has been an immediate halt to all of our income and cancellation of all of our many planned events and projects.
As you are aware the pandemic has been a very difficult time for us all. Many small businesses have been devastated and others have gone under. The hospitality sector has been most affected. We have loved serving you and have worked very hard for the past 6 years to create a place where all felt welcome. As a family run business, we have striven to create a homely place for people to eat, socialise and explore the Middle Eastern cuisine.
Cafe Reem is not just a regular cafe; we loved bringing people together and really valued the social element. We have hosted community events such as Police surgeries, community clubs dining, University of Birmingham student society events and BBC filming. We regularly contributed to fundraisers and charity events such as Macmillan Cancer support. Like so many other businesses, the years of hard work have been wiped out overnight by the pandemic. From the day we closed the cafe in March, we lost 100% of our income, and the big inventory loss of thousands of pounds has impacted us hugely.

The effects have been disastrous and the financial impact devastating.
We are at a crucial point in our history and are one month away from going under. Our income has dried up yet our financial commitments from rent to utilities and staff wages are due every month.
Our survival depends on any funds raised and donations made.
Please donate whatever you can to protect this valuable community asset. Donate to allow Cafe Rem to come back to live to continue serving its authentic touch. We have been working super hard to help revive the Cafe but with the limited support we have struggled. Donations, however little will mean so much to us.
How funds will be used-
We have calculated that we need to raise a minimum of £30000 to support the business for the next few months. This will include average overhead costs of £5000 every month which include salaries, rent arrears, future rent, utilities, insurance and service fees. On top of that funds will pay for: creditors, new stocks and inventory, equipment and materials needed to comply with the safety protocols, other expenses and other necessary refurbishments.
Our ongoing costs and overheads have put us in a position where we may not be able to open again. We would be extremely grateful if you could donate a small amount towards keeping us alive.
Cafe Reem needs an injection of funds to keep it going. Donations will help us meet our financial commitments and pay debts to be able to run our business again.
Funds will also go towards creating and designing the next part of the story for our business. With the uncertainty around us, even if we do feel ready to re-open there will be many challenges. We will need to put in place safety measures which will limit our capacity and limit the number of customers we can serve. This will make it difficult to break even let alone make a profit.
Therefore, we are exploring different paths to go forward. We may consider launching new services such as e-commerce, cooking classes, fruit and veg. boxes, or supper clubs. Proceeds generated from this campaign will go towards all costs associated with these. Any excess will go to support this also.
Funds and any excess over our target will go towards paying creditors and clearing our debts. If our target is not met, any donation however small, will be used to support the business and staff as mentioned in the ways above. Funds received prior to the end of the campaign will also still be used to support all the above and any new services we launch.
Please give whatever you can. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
