Save Bunny: Help a Deaf Dog Recover from Rattlesnake Bite

Donation protected
On Friday evening at 10pm, I took my completely deaf dog outside into our yard. She never leaves my side, as I am her ears in the world. Without any warning, in pitch darkness, a huge rattlesnake lunged at my baby Bunny— we were standing right next to each other, and the snake could have struck either of us. It chose her instead of me. After immediately rushing Bunny to the hospital, she faces life-threatening complications: anti-coagulation of the blood (bleeding complication), tissue damage to the affected area, swelling, and a great deal of pain from the snake’s venom. Her tongue is so swollen she can barely breathe, nor can she eat or drink without the feeding tube that goes through her nostril into her stomach.

Of course, we are doing everything we can to help her. She seems to have amazing prospects so far, but only if she’s able to stay under 24-hour medical care for 4-7 days. As a college student, I am underemployed and unable to save her life with the funds I have alone. Bunny isn’t just the most important part of my life—she’s an important tiny member of a larger community of many people who have come to deeply love and adore her.

“Bunny brings joy, light and goodness to my life and to everyone that is given the opportunity to meet her. She is resilient and intelligent. My dog Smokey loves Bunny and enjoys her playful energy. If I come home from seeing Bunny, Smokey gets jealous he didn’t get to see her too. She is a very important part of my dog’s life and mine too.
I am so amazed by her ability to keep chugging along. Bunny is loved by so many. She has beaten so many odds already.
I believe in her strength and hope to watch her run with my sweet pup again.”

”I’ve never had an affinity for dogs, and certainly never felt emotionally attached to any in my lifetime. As soon as Bunny entered our lives, that changed for me ! Bunny is such a joyous dog, it’s hard not to be a convert. Small things, like seeing her eat breakfast in the mornings and play with her toys outside, are what bring me joy. I can’t imagine a life without Bunny, and I feel confident that we can reach the community support needed to keep her alive for many more years.”
