Hi, my name is Audrey and I am fundraising to help save the life of my cat Bubba, who is only 22 months old. He is one of three cats I have from his litter and is bonded to his twin brother, Jack.
On Friday morning, Bubba began experiencing trouble urinating and also had blood in the few drops of urine that was coming out. I took him to the vet immediately where x-rays and a urine sample was taken. Unfortunately, Bubba was misdiagnosed with a UTI and sent home with only medications, as the vet did not see the kidney stones in his x-ray. The next day Bubba’s condition began to worsen dramatically as he refused to eat, drink, and was completely unable to urinate. His movement also slowed down exponentially and he became increasingly lethargic. Last night I then took him in to another emergency vet where they determined he does in fact have many kidney stones in his bladder, and his urethra was completely blocked as a result. After further testing it was determined the blockage caused his kidneys to be damaged, leading to his potassium levels rising to an alarmingly high level. Bubba is currently being hospitalized with a catheter placed and is being given fluids. This will continue until we can find a vet available for surgery and until I can find the financial means to pay for it. According to his current vet, if Bubba is able to receive proper treatment, he should be able to have a full recovery.
The total for Bubba’s vet bill is already over $2600 before surgery. In order to have surgery, we will need $5000 more to cover the cost of Bubba’s surgery. I am currently a graduate student living off of student loans and do not have a sufficient income to cover this cost to save his life.
Bubba is the sweetest, most empathetic cat I’ve ever met and he would appreciate anything at all to help him receive the care he needs to live.
Thank you all for your time and support.
