UPDATE ON BREEZY AND HIS FRIEND BRIELLA!!
We are beyond blown away by the amount of love, concern and support that has been shown for this sweet boy. It is with a full heart that I get to update everyone that he is doing AMAZING.
His wounds are healing beautifully. He is allowing pets and loves being brushed as well as chin scratches. The cat he was out there with, that helped us trap him has been instrumental in teaching Breezy that he can trust us. He is know laying out in the open and not hiding. He does not try and run when approached and just absorbs all the love. He is still fighting a multiple bad infections. The vet thinks that he is 6 years old and that the wounds are from him being dumped as kitten with a collar on that became too tight and embedded. He was in horrific nutritional shape when brought in, and his teeth will all need to be removed. He is not strong enough to under go sedation right now, so his full dental is set for three weeks out! He will also get a full lab work up as well as tested for everything. We are hoping that with consistent nutrition that his labs will show a drastic improvement.
He is definitely a fighter, and continues to get stronger everyday.
This would not have been possible without the support of each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
His little girlfriend is SO SO happy to be inside. She was born at this location. Her mother and other sibling disappeared one day when she was still young. A man would go every single day over the last year and feed her. She grew to love him and him her. He promised her that he would get her a better life and he kept that promise. She is roaming about the house curious and so happy to have people to love on and people to love on her. She gets along so well with the other cats in the house and is ready to find her own forever home! She will be going up for adoption soon!
Hope these new pictures and videos bring you as much happiness as they did us
We're reaching out today with heavy hearts and a hopeful spirit as we work to save a very special soul named Breezy.
Breezy is a stray cat who has been struggling to survive on the streets since at least February. His condition is heartbreaking—his body telling a long story of suffering and neglect. Last night, we were finally able to trap him and get him to the vet first thing this morning. He had to be sedated so they could properly assess and begin treating his injuries.
What they found was devastating: deep, open wounds all around his neck, infected and filled with necrotic tissue. The vet carefully cleaned and debrided the wounds, but due to their size, they cannot be stitched closed. Healing will require time, daily care with topical treatments, and many follow-up visits.
Breezy also has severe dental disease. Some of his teeth were so decayed that they shattered under gentle pressure. Three were pulled today while he was under anesthesia, but he still needs a full dental surgery, including X-rays, as well as lab work and FIV/FELV testing. On top of all this, he is infested with fleas and suffering from ear mites. This sweet boy has endured more than any animal should, yet he’s still fighting.
And now, with the help of a loving foster and continued veterinary care,
Breezy has a chance at a full recovery.
We’ve posted today’s invoice, but please know—it only covers the beginning of his care. We are humbly asking for your support. If you can spare even $10, it will go directly toward helping Breezy heal and live the life he’s always deserved. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.
We also wanted to share a moment that touched us deeply. When we went to trap Breezy, a little female cat appeared first. She was clearly once someone’s pet—so gentle and affectionate. We waited over an hour before Breezy emerged, and the moment he did, this sweet girl ran to him with joy. They cuddled, played, and chirped to each other like old friends. Breezy was wary of the trap—until she stepped in first, looked back at him, and gently led him inside. She stayed by his side until he was safely caught, then finally ran when we approached.
It was as if she knew he needed help and guided him to safety. We are hoping to trap her tonight and reunite them in foster care. These small acts of love between animals remind us why we do what we do. They break your heart and fill it all at once.
We’ll be sharing updates on Breezy’s journey through Kia’s Place Cat and Kitten Sanctuary. Thank you all for taking the time to read his story, and for caring. Your compassion is the reason we’re able to keep fighting for animals like Breezy.
