Help a Single Mom Stay in Her Home!
Donation protected
My good friend and neighbor Brandi is caught in the midst of a costly legal battle to stay in her apartment. Please help her and her five year old daughter remain in their home!
As many know, Oakland’s housing prices have skyrocketed. Many families are being displaced because landlords are evicting long-term tenants in order to raise rent. Unfortunately, Brandi and her daughter have fallen victim to this very situation. Brandi has lived in her home for 4 years. She resides with her roommate, who has lived in the building for 27 years. The landlord has decided she no longer wants to rent to them, likely because the building is rent-controlled and the landlord can substantially raise the rent if she finds new tenants. As a result, Brandi’s landlord has filed a wrongful eviction against her, her 5 year old, and their roommate.
Brandi is now in the midst of a time consuming and costly legal battle. She has had to spend much of her money and time on paperwork and court fees, a $350 per hour attorney, and transportation to and from various rental assistance agencies in Oakland and San Francisco. Additionally, she is a single mother supporting a five year old, which in itself is a significant financial challenge in the Bay Area.
Brandi is working tirelessly to save her home while trying to support her daughter and manage day-to-day expenses. The financial stress is taking a toll on her and she needs your help. Please donate to help her with legal fees and living expenses during this challenging time so that she can remain in her apartment.
Thank you for considering to donate during the holiday season. It means a lot!
