Save Boomer: Jon's Service Dog Needs You

Dear family and friends,

As many of you know, Jon was blessed with his forever best friend, Boomer, last October through a very special program that blesses our veterans in many ways. Having Boomer as part of our family has been nothing but a blessing and joy, not only to Jon but for everyone else that meets him. He’s such a loving, affectionate, goofy boy that it’s so hard not to come up to him to love on him. He loves belly rubs, massages, and most especially his toys. After a full year of training, Boomer and Jon have passed all four of their tests to be a certified service dog but don’t get to walk (graduate) until December with the rest of his buddies, and we are so excited for them!

Yesterday, Jon experienced what we can say was the worst day of his life when we got home from dinner and noticed that Boomer was gagging and throwing up. We rushed him to the Emergency Room where they started him on fluids, ran some blood work, as well as X-rays and an ultrasound. They sent us home pending the results. Early this morning, we got a devastating call from the doctor that his symptoms are getting worse and he needs to be transferred to the ICU for more critical care. They have him on oxygen and antibiotics because they found pneumonia in his lungs. Both of his lungs are infected and his breathing has gotten worse. With no explanation of how or why he caught pneumonia, we’re so lost for words. We know that our God is a miracle-working Father and He will heal our boy.

As we all know, all of this comes with a price at the end, and we can’t even imagine not giving him all the care that he needs because of a price. He’s part of our family and most especially Jon’s best friend he’s prayed for for so long. So we humbly ask for your generous support in helping us get our boy back to the goofy, loving Boomer he was so we can see him graduate in December. Whether it be by prayers or monetary support, anything helps, and we are FOREVER GRATEFUL for each and every one of you.
