This is my handsome cat, McFlurry, who has more nicknames than I can list, but my favorite one is Blubby. He has been with me for 4 full years, this week was actually the week I got him 4 years ago. He was like an angel that showed up on my door step. I made and posted flyers looking for his owner because I thought he might have been lost. I never heard anything back, but I am so grateful because I got attached and fell in love with this fluffy monster! I never would have thought I had to face the worries of him possibly going into sudden death…

Here is what we have been dealing with…
Blubby has started having coughing attacks about 2 weeks ago that were getting increasingly worse. I set up a vet appointment thinking he just has a cold, or worst case, bronchitis. They saw him Tuesday last week and were extremely worried about the way he was breathing. The doctor begged me not to leave without getting his X-rays taken, and the X-rays showed he had fluid in his lungs. I went home with medicine and recommendations to hospitals. I originally was going to see if the steroids they gave him would help him. However, I didn’t know how serious this was until I spoke with other people. With my mind racing, I had to leave class early and I took him to the hospital the next day, Wednesday, where they rushed him on oxygen. They took more X-rays and found fluid in his abdomen, along with the fluid in his lungs, and a possible enlargement in his heart. He is suffering with pleural effusion, which is cause by bigger problems. They said it could be kidney disease, heart failure, or cancer. They recommended I hospitalize him which can cost anywhere between a few thousand to several thousand dollars. I went home with more medication and have been monitoring him. The medication does seem to be helping because he’s been coughing less. However, his breathing is not getting any better and he’s struggling. He is using all of his energy and muscles to take breaths. I took him to the vet again today and got a refill on his medicine. They also recommended I see a cardiologist in the case that he truly does have a heart enlargement. I called several hospitals asking if their cardiologist is available today, but the earliest Blubby can get seen is on Friday. I plan to get him hospitalized Friday so he can be treated thoroughly. I wish I could take him tonight to just go on oxygen and help him breathe until he can see a cardiologist but I can’t afford it. I’m doing everything I can to save him, I just really need help please. Even if you have nothing to give, he really needs prayers, if you could please pray for him.
