Help Save Blaze – Our Strong Boy Survived the Unthinkable
On June 12, 2025, our 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier, Blaze, accidentally swallowed a chicken kebob – skewer and all.
Despite being lethargic, he continued eating and acting mostly normal. Our vet was fully booked, so we monitored him closely.
A few days later, a bulge appeared on his side. On June 23rd, Blaze was finally seen – x-rays showed no skewer, but a serious bacterial infection was diagnosed. The abscess was drained and he began to heal… until June 27th, when we saw the tip of the bamboo skewer protruding from his side.
We rushed him to Cornell Animal Hospital, where we were told this was a life-or-death emergency. Surgery was estimated at $8,000–$10,000 with only a 50/50 chance of survival. Despite the cost, we chose to fight for Blaze’s life.
After a long, invasive surgery, Blaze miraculously survived. The 8-inch skewer had pierced only a small part of his stomach and missed every vital organ. Thanks to quick action and amazing care, Blaze is alive and recovering.
We’re now facing a massive veterinary bill. If you can help us cover Blaze’s surgery and ongoing care, we would be deeply grateful. Even a share helps raise awareness about the hidden dangers everyday items can pose to pets.
Thank you for your support and love. ❤️
